🔗 Telegram has applied for the .gram and .telegram top-level domains in ICANN’s new gTLD round.
The applicant in both cases is Telegram FZ-LLC. The most interesting situation is with .gram, where Link Freedom Group Ltd. has also applied for the same extension. Both applications are currently listed as Active.
This means .gram won’t automatically go to Telegram. If both applications pass the required evaluations and remain in contention, ICANN will have to resolve the competition. If it cannot be resolved through the available procedures, it can ultimately lead to an ICANN auction.
As for .telegram, ICANN’s public data currently shows Telegram’s application with no other applicant for the same extension.
There is still a long way to go before these extensions could actually appear. In the new ICANN round, the evaluation procedures are only getting underway, while the Prioritization Draw is scheduled for the first half of 2027.
