Recently, I’ve noticed that (Telegram) usernames have reached a point where prices are becoming increasingly detached from reality.

A big part of this comes from people setting their own prices and treating almost any valuation as justifiable simply because a username is rare, short, or recognizable. Once a few inflated prices are established, they start setting unrealistic expectations for the rest of the market.

I’ll probably be one of the first to say this publicly, but I think it’s time for some of these @’s to come down.

There’s nothing wrong with premium usernames having premium prices, but there’s a difference between genuine value and simply putting an arbitrary number on something and expecting the market to accept it.

Some prices are overdue for a correction.

To be clear, I don’t think everything is overpriced.

At the end of the day, value is subjective, and a username is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

But that doesn’t mean every @ has to follow the same trend. One high sale doesn’t automatically justify inflated prices across the entire market.

Some handles are genuinely worth a premium. Others simply aren’t.

And I think it’s time for the market to realise that.
