Even with a large number of prize spots, competition in EdChess tournaments is still tough. International Masters and Grandmasters usually take the top rewards, and for casual players it can be hard to break through.

We’re introducing a new distribution system, tournament leagues. Now you can compete for prizes not just in the overall ranking, but also against players at your own level. Even casual players now have a real shot at winning.

Here’s how leagues work 👇

⭐️ LEAGUES

We’re adding leagues to EdChess tournaments. This allows for a more balanced prize distribution across different skill levels.

If you don’t make it into the overall top, you can still compete for prizes within your league.

🔎 How does it work?

1. During the first half of the tournament (30 minutes in a 1-hour event), you play a set number of games
4 blitz games or 8 bullet games, depending on the tournament

2. After that, players are divided into leagues based on their results:
🥇 Top 33% go to the Gold League
🥈 34–66% go to the Silver League
🥉 67–100% go to the Bronze League

Players who join late or don’t complete the required number of games stay in the overall ranking only.

• Leagues apply only within a specific tournament
Each new tournament has fresh distribution

• Leagues are currently available only in free tournaments

• 40% of the prize pool goes to the overall ranking, 20% goes to each league
