🗓 What Defined 2025, and What Awaits Us in 2026?

Binance Research published its annual report, noting that in 2025 the total cryptocurrency market capitalization surpassed the $4 trillion mark for the first time, while Bitcoin reached a new all-time high above $126,000. Stablecoin transaction volumes hit $33 trillion—more than Visa processed over the entire year.

📈 Market capitalization peaked at $4.2 trillion in October, with a volatility range of 76%, a record level for the crypto industry, although the market ended the year at around $3.2 trillion.

🟠 Bitcoin, despite reaching an all-time high of $126,000, closed the year below $90,000 – posting a negative annual return for the first time since 2022. At the same time, institutional interest intensified. Corporate holders accumulated more than 1.1 million BTC, equivalent to approximately 5.5% of total supply. Network hashrate exceeded 1 ZH/s (1,000 EH/s) for the first time, while mining difficulty increased by 36% over the year. Meanwhile, on-chain activity declined: the number of active addresses fell by 16%, and average transaction fees dropped below $1. Bitcoin dominance remained in the 58–60% range – according to Binance Research, reflecting capital concentration in Bitcoin.

📈 Binance analysts also describe 2025 as the “year of stablecoins”: their market capitalization grew by 49%, surpassing $305 billion.

Binance Research highlights several key market trends for 2026:

✅ The convergence of U.S. midterm elections will shape a “politically driven” market. Expanding fiscal deficits may strengthen the narrative of Bitcoin as a hedge against fiat debasement.

✅ Data centers are displacing miners from power grids. Hybrid operators combining AI and mining will gain an advantage.

✅ Implementation of the GENIUS Act and the potential adoption of market-structure legislation will determine which crypto businesses can scale.

✅ Neobanks will drive mass adoption of stablecoins by offering higher savings yields and lower transaction costs.

✅ Digital asset accumulation strategies will come under pressure: companies will need to implement yield-generating mechanisms rather than simply holding assets.

🫶 A Solo Miner Mined a BTC Block and Earned $289,000

🗓 On January 20, a solo miner mined Bitcoin block #933,034 and received 3.131 BTC (~$289,191). The block contained 1,129 transactions, and transaction fees added another 0.006 BTC. The most interesting part is that the miner rented hashpower via NiceHash, spending only $90.

☝️ This was not a one-off event at the beginning of the year. On January 15, another solo miner also mined block #932,373 and earned approximately $304,814, including 0.032 BTC in transaction fees.
