🤑 VanEck Forecasts Bitcoin at $2.9 Million

A few days ago, analysts at the investment company VanEck published a report in which they forecast BTC at $2.9 million per coin by 2050. The experts described this level as a base-case scenario, which would materialize if Bitcoin becomes a currency for international settlements and is included in central bank reserves.

📈 The experts assume that:

✅ the asset’s share in global finance will reach 1.66%;
✅ central banks will allocate 2.5% of their reserves to cryptocurrencies;
✅ the average annual growth rate of prices will be 15%.

The report’s authors, Matthew Sigel and Patrick Bush, view Bitcoin as a long-term hedge against debt crises and the devaluation of fiat currencies. They cite the expansion of global liquidity and monetary policy easing as the key drivers of the leading cryptocurrency’s price growth.

👾 The company outlined three scenarios:
▪️Base case. Assumes that over 20 years Bitcoin will capture 5–10% of the international payments market. This is comparable to the position of the British pound (7.38% according to SWIFT data). For comparison, the leaders today are the US dollar (47.79%) and the euro (22.77%), followed by the yen and the yuan.
▪️Bearish. Assumes a price of $130,000 per coin (with annual growth of 2%).
▪️Bullish. Assumes BTC at $52.4 million (with a 20% annual growth rate).

At the same time, the main obstacle to the mass adoption of “digital gold” remains network scalability, which is why the development of L2 solutions that speed up transactions and reduce fees is crucial.

🗓 What Defined 2025, and What Awaits Us in 2026?

Binance Research published its annual report, noting that in 2025 the total cryptocurrency market capitalization surpassed the $4 trillion mark for the first time, while Bitcoin reached a new all-time high above $126,000. Stablecoin transaction volumes hit $33 trillion—more than Visa processed over the entire year.

📈 Market capitalization peaked at $4.2 trillion in October, with a volatility range of 76%, a record level for the crypto industry, although the market ended the year at around $3.2 trillion.

🟠 Bitcoin, despite reaching an all-time high of $126,000, closed the year below $90,000 – posting a negative annual return for the first time since 2022. At the same time, institutional interest intensified. Corporate holders accumulated more than 1.1 million BTC, equivalent to approximately 5.5% of total supply. Network hashrate exceeded 1 ZH/s (1,000 EH/s) for the first time, while mining difficulty increased by 36% over the year. Meanwhile, on-chain activity declined: the number of active addresses fell by 16%, and average transaction fees dropped below $1. Bitcoin dominance remained in the 58–60% range – according to Binance Research, reflecting capital concentration in Bitcoin.

📈 Binance analysts also describe 2025 as the “year of stablecoins”: their market capitalization grew by 49%, surpassing $305 billion.

Binance Research highlights several key market trends for 2026:

✅ The convergence of U.S. midterm elections will shape a “politically driven” market. Expanding fiscal deficits may strengthen the narrative of Bitcoin as a hedge against fiat debasement.

✅ Data centers are displacing miners from power grids. Hybrid operators combining AI and mining will gain an advantage.

✅ Implementation of the GENIUS Act and the potential adoption of market-structure legislation will determine which crypto businesses can scale.

✅ Neobanks will drive mass adoption of stablecoins by offering higher savings yields and lower transaction costs.

✅ Digital asset accumulation strategies will come under pressure: companies will need to implement yield-generating mechanisms rather than simply holding assets.
