Chinese sellers are actively expanding their presence on the Russian Ozon and Wildberries marketplaces in an attempt to find new markets and avoid Western duties.

According to the publication Financial Times, 80% of orders for Ozon Global, which allows Ozon customers to buy goods from abroad, account for products from China. The press service of the FT site stated that at least 100 thousand Chinese sellers had been registered. Wildberries has been cooperating with manufacturers and sellers from China since 2023.

In Chinese social networks, including the Xiaohongshu service, there are more and more publications about the advantages of promotion on Russian sites. The owner of one of these accounts told the FT that he can register a company in Russia to work in the local market for about 30 thousand yuan (about 420 thousand rubles).

Several Chinese suppliers told the publication that they are opening their own online stores in Russia. This process involves having an account with one of the local banks, paying for logistics services within the country and receiving payments in rubles.

How Amazon delivers to Japan's most remote islands.

For Okinawans, Amazon deliveries are even faster now, thanks to a new delivery station in Okinawa that helps Amazon deliver millions of items the next day to customers.

Before the delivery station opened, customers would typically have to wait a few days to get what they ordered from the mainland of Japan. Now products are flown daily from Haneda Airport near Tokyo by a third-party carrier, allowing Amazon to offer convenient next-day delivery.

Coupang and ACI Worldwide Express launch a new service for global sellers to boost online sales in Korea.

Coupang, a leading e-commerce company, and ACI Worldwide Express, a global logistics provider, have introduced a new service called ACI Fulfillment for Coupang Sellers. This service aims to help e-commerce sellers from Europe, Australia, and New Zealand increase their online sales by easily reaching consumers in South Korea. The program offers comprehensive order fulfillment services, including storage, picking, packing, and delivery, allowing sellers to send their products to ACI's regional warehouses and then deliver them directly to Korean consumers.

This new service significantly reduces delivery time and costs: products are delivered in just four days, compared to the usual 10-15 days and higher costs associated with other global shipping options. To attract new sellers, ACI is offering free product storage at its warehouses for six months on the first use. South Korea is a highly lucrative market, with 98% of the population aged 20-39 regularly shopping online, making this service a promising opportunity for global sellers.

โ€˜Stressedโ€™ Amazon driver ditches 80 packages in the woods, police say.

In a pre-Christmas mystery, a police officer in southeastern Massachusetts discovered a clutch of more than 80 Amazon packages nestled beneath a tree โ€” or rather, several trees โ€” in a wooded area of Lakeville early Sunday.

The sergeant was on a 2 a.m. patrol when he spotted the haul of three large Amazon totes spread out in the woods, the Lakeville Police Department said in a news release. Police had the items loaded into a pickup truck and taken back to the station to be inventoried, the department said. Lakeville is about an hour south of Boston.

Police were still puzzling over where the items came from, with no recent reports of misplaced or stolen packages, before handing them over to an Amazon distribution center in nearby Middleborough, Massachusetts, for redelivery. (Amazon founder Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post.)

The mystery was ultimately short-lived: An overwhelmed delivery driver visited the police department to explain that they had left the packages on the side of the road around 7 p.m. on Saturday โ€œbecause they were stressed,โ€ police said.

Lakeville Police Chief Matthew Perkins praised Sgt. Shawn Robert for probably saving โ€œa Christmas headache for many local residentsโ€ by spotting the packages and getting them back to Amazon. The driver was not identified, with Perkins stating that the matter was not a criminal one but a human resources issue for Amazon.

As for the intended recipients, a spokesperson for Amazon told The Post on Thursday that the items were redelivered and made it to their destinations on time.
