In a 2012 address to bishops, he lamented that Western news media and popular culture fostered “sympathy for beliefs and practices that are at odds with the gospel.” He cited the “homosexual lifestyle” and “alternative families comprised of same-sex partners and their adopted children.”

▪ 69-летний Роберт Прево родился в Чикаго в семье итальянского, французского и испанского происхождения;
▪ Он получил степень по математике в Филадельфии и в 1977 году вступил в Орден святого Августина, позднее став генеральным настоятелем ордена по всему миру;
▪ Значительная часть его служения прошла в Перу, где он приобрел репутацию эффективного и универсального церковного деятеля;
▪ Он отличается умеренностью. Как и его предшественник Франциск, он связан с Латинской Америкой;
▪ Новый Папа в своем первом обращении к верующим говорил о мире и о продолжении линии своего предшественника Франциска.
