At EBR, security isn't an afterthought... it's the foundation of everything we build.
We believe trust is earned through transparency, which is why we're open about the measures we take to protect both your assets and your personal data.

Private Keys Never Leave Secure Storage;

Every EBR deposit wallet is protected by its own dedicated private key, encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM, an industry-leading authenticated encryption standard.

The encryption key itself is stored inside a separate encrypted vault, while the vault password is never written to disk or stored on our servers. It exists only in memory during server startup and nowhere else.

Even in the highly unlikely event of unauthorized access to our server's storage, an attacker would only find encrypted data... not your private keys, seed phrases, or wallet secrets.

Multi-Layer Account Protection;

Access to your EBR account is secured through multiple independent security layers:

> Email OTP verification on every new device login
> Two-Factor Authentication (2FA/TOTP) required before sensitive actions, including withdrawals, payment method changes, and security updates
> Trusted devices are cryptographically linked to individual accounts, preventing token reuse across different users
> Passwords are securely hashed with bcrypt and are never stored or transmitted in plaintext
> Authentication tokens automatically expire after 15 minutes, significantly reducing the impact of token theft

Privacy by Design;

Your privacy is just as important as your security.

EBR never stores your real IP address!

Instead, we generate a daily rotating cryptographic hash: an irreversible fingerprint used exclusively for abuse prevention and fair-use enforcement. Every 24 hours, the hash changes completely, making historical tracking impossible... even for us!

Advanced Protection Against Abuse;

EBR's infrastructure is protected by multiple layers of intelligent rate limiting backed by persistent storage.

This protects against:

> Brute-force login attempts (per IP and per account)
> VPN rotation attacks
> Registration abuse (per IP and email)
> OTP guessing through database-backed session counters

These safeguards continue functioning even after server restarts.

Enterprise-Grade Web Security;

Every EBR API response includes modern security protections, including:

> HSTS (2-year preload) to enforce HTTPS at all times
> Content Security Policy ("default-src 'none'") for maximum API hardening
> X-Frame-Options: DENY to prevent clickjacking
> Referrer Policy and Permissions Policy to disable unnecessary browser capabilities
> CSRF protection through Origin validation combined with "SameSite=Strict" cookies

Available Over Tor;

For users who require maximum network privacy, EBR is accessible through a Tor Hidden Service.

Dedicated Tor-specific rate limiting ensures users sharing Tor exit nodes are treated fairly without compromising platform security.

Independent Infrastructure;

Unlike many platforms, EBR operates on infrastructure that we own and control directly.

We do not rely on shared hosting providers, cloud platforms, or third-party infrastructure that could become unavailable due to external administrative decisions.

This independence allows us to maintain greater operational control, resilience, and long-term reliability for our users.

🔔Expanding Payment Options on EBR

Following the results of our recent community poll and extensive feedback from our diaspora users, merchants, and high-volume traders, we're expanding the payment methods available on EBR.

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and Bank of Abyssinia will soon be supported, providing users with greater flexibility when trading.

While EBR facilitates secure P2P trading, we do not control or influence the policies of banks or other financial institutions. As such, EBR is not responsible for any account reviews, restrictions, suspensions, or other actions taken by banks in relation to users' transactions. Users are solely responsible for ensuring their transactions comply with the terms and policies of their financial institution.

For smaller, routine transactions, we strongly encourage using mobile money payment methods whenever possible. They are generally faster, more convenient, and may reduce the likelihood of bank-related complications.
