📢 Update on Global Payment Integration

Following the overwhelming interest from our community, we want to address something we've been researching behind the scenes: the integration of global payment methods such as Visa and Mastercard into EBR.

We explored this seriously. Our goal was to let users fund their EBR accounts directly with international cards: faster onboarding, broader access, less friction.

Here's why we're not moving forward with it. ( at least not now)

After deep technical and regulatory review, the barriers are not engineering problems. They are structural:

1. Card network policies prohibit crypto purchases:

Visa and Mastercard's own operating rules restrict their cards from being used to purchase cryptocurrency on most platforms. Payment processors that sit on top of these networks (Stripe, etc.) enforce the same rules. Any integration would be flagged and shut down... not a risk we're willing to take on behalf of our users.

2. Regulatory environment:

Operating a card-based fiat-to-crypto gateway in Ethiopia requires licensing frameworks that are still evolving. Moving fast here without proper legal standing would put the platform (and your funds) at risk.
We don't do that!

3. Chargeback exposure is unacceptable:

Card transactions are reversible. Crypto is not. This asymmetry is the reason most legitimate exchanges avoid direct card rails entirely. The fraud and chargeback risk would ultimately be absorbed by honest users through higher fees or frozen accounts. We refused to build that into EBR.



What we're doing instead?

We're doubling down on what works:

Secure USDT deposits on Base and BNB Smart Chain, fast P2P ETB settlement, and expanding local payment rails that actually serve our users here.

We'd rather tell you the truth than ship something that looks good but puts your money at risk.

📢 Temporary Withdrawal Fee Adjustment

We've temporarily increased withdrawal fees due to ongoing market arbitrage activity.

Some users have been purchasing assets at lower prices on EBR and immediately transferring them to other exchanges for resale at higher prices. To help maintain a healthy and sustainable marketplace for everyone, a temporary fee adjustment is now in effect.

We'll continue monitoring the situation and will review the fees as conditions improve.
