The group was called something professional-sounding. 1k members. A pinned message with testimonials. The admin had a real-looking profile photo... a man in a suit, standing in front of what was either a nice car or a Canva template of a nice car. Four people in the comments had written things like "trusted 100%" and "very fast very good brother."
Dawit, a man who once refused to merge a PR without three approvals, sent 15k ETB to a complete stranger's telebirr account based on this evidence.
He told himself it was fine.
(It was not fine.)
The confirmation came fast... like too fast, actually, which is something Dawit would think about later, in the dark, while staring at the ceiling.
The admin said the USDT was "on the way." Dawit refreshed his wallet. Nothing. Refreshed again. Still nothing. Sent a message. No reply. Checked the group.
The group was gone.
1k people.
Vanished.
Like a Telegram group-shaped hole had been punched through the space-time continuum, taking 15,000 ETB with it.
Dawit sat very still for several minutes.

The group was called something professional-sounding. 1k members. A pinned message with testimonials. The admin had a real-looking profile photo... a man in a suit, standing in front of what was either a nice car or a Canva template of a nice car.
