We are pleased to inform you about the call for articles now open for the Special Issue “Water and Human Settlements of the Future”.



The Special Issue aims at collecting original research and literature review articles on the state of the art and recent theoretical advances on water research, policy, and practice in cities worldwide, in relation to major global challenges and responses/solutions to these challenges. We particularly welcome articles related to integrated urban water management, water and urban metabolism, water-sensitive cities and sponge cities, urban biodiversity and nature-based solutions for climate and health emergency, and water circular economy, including articles with specific focus on policies, strategies, actions, and appropriate technologies. Connections between traditional ecological knowledge and ancestral hydro-technologies with nature-based solutions, and articles with a focus on developing context and informal settlements are also very welcome.



This Special Issue is grounded in the knowledge and research activities developed in the frame of the VIII Phase (2014–2021) of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO, specifically on the thematic area of water and human settlements of the future. Thereby, the aim of this Special Issue is to further contribute to supporting evidence-based policy makings through fostering scientific advances to meet today’s global urban water challenges.

ማህበሩ ለ12 አንጋፋ አባላቱ እውቅና ሰጠ
የኢትዮጵያ ሲቪል መሓንዲሶች ማህበር ላለፉት በርካታ አመታት በማህበሩ አባልነት፣ የሥራ መሪነት እና በተለያዩ የመንግስት እና መንግስታዊ ባልሆኑ ተቋማት አመራርነት በማገልገል፣ ለኮንስትራክሽ ኢንዱስትሪው እና ለአገር እድገት ከፍተኛ አስተዋጽኦ ለአበረከቱ ለ12 አባቱ እውቅና ሰጠ፡፡
ማህበሩ ለአንጋፋ አባላቱ የምስጋና እና የዕውቅና ሽልማት የሰጠው የማህበሩ 23ኛ አመት ጠቅላላ ጉባዔውን ሚያዚያ 30 ቀን 2013 ዓ.ም “ስነምግባር የተላበሰ ሙያዊ አገልግሎት ለህዝባችን እና ለአገራችን ብልጽግና” በሚል መሪ ቃል በእንጦጦ ፓርክ አርት ጋላሪ እና ኦላይን ባከናወነበት ወቅት ነው፡፡
የማህበሩ ፕሬዚደንት የሆኑት የኢትዮጵያ ኮንስትራክሽን ስራዎች ኮርፖሬሽን ዋና ሥራ አስፈፃሚ ኢንጂነር ዮናስ አያሌው በእውቅና እና ሽልማት አሰጣጥ ስነስርዓቱ ላይ እንደተናገሩት በዕለቱ የዕውቅና የተሰጣቸው የማህበሩ አባላት የአገራችን የኮንስትራክሽን ኢንዱስትሪእድገት አሁል ለደረሰበት ደረጃ ከፍተኛ ሚና የተጫወቱ፣ በተሰማሩበት የሲቪል ምህንድስና ሙያ በርካታ ጥናትና ምርሮችን ያደረጉ፣ ማህበሩ ጠንካራ ማህበር እንዲሆን በአባልነት እና በአመራርነት የሰሩ ናቸው፡፡
ይህ አይነት የእውቅና መስጠት ስርዓት ቀደም ባሉት አመታት እንዳልነበረ፣ ይህ አይነት የእውቅና እና የምስጋና ስነስርዓት መጀመሩ የላቀ አስተዋጽኦ ያበረከቱትን ሙያተኞች ከማመስገን ባለፈ በምህንድስና ሙያ ዘርፍ ተተኩ ሙያተኞችን ለማፍራት ከፍተኛ አስተዋጽኦ እንደሚያበረክት ፕሬዘደንቱ ተናግረዋል፡፡
የማህበሩ ጠቅላላ ጉባኤ ሊቀመንበር ፕሮፌሰር አለማየሁ ተፈራ በበኩላቸው የኢትዮጵያ ሲቪል መሓንዲሶች ማህበር ላለፉት ከ50 በላይ አመታት በርካታ ውጣውረዶችን በማሳለፍ ዛሬ ላይ መድረሱን፣ ማህበሩ በአሁኑ ወቅት ለደረሰበት ደረጃ ደግሞ ዛሬ እውቅና የተሰጣቸውን የምህንድስና ባለሙያዎች ጨምሮ ሌሎች አባላት የነበራቸው ድርሻ ከፍተኛ እንደነበር አስታውሰዋል፡፡
በዕለቱ በተደረገው ጠቅላላ ጉባኤ ላይ እንደተገለፀው የሲቪል ምህንድስና ሙያ ዘርፎች በሆኑት በኮንስትራክሽን ማቴሪያል ማኔጅመንት፣ ስትራክቸራል ኢንጂነሪንግ፣ ሃይድሮሊክስ ነደ ዋተር ሪሶርስ ማኔጅመንት፣ አጠቃላይ የኮንስትራክሽን ዘርፍ እና ሮደ ኤንድ ሃይዌይ ኢንጂነርንግ ዘርፎች በማስተማር፣ ጥናትና ምርምር በማድረግ እንዲሁም በኮንስትራክሽን ዘርፉ በመሳተፍ እንዲሁም በሙያ ማህበሩ መስራች አባል በመሆን ማህበሩን በእውቀታቸው፣ በጉልበታቸው እና በገነዘባቸው ባበረከቱት አስተዋጽኦ የተመረጡት ተሸላሚዎች የተዘጋጀላቸውን የሰርተፊኬትና ዋንጫ ሽልማት ከማህበሩ ፕሬዚደንት ኢንጂነር ዮናስ አያሌው እጅ ተቀብለዋል፡፡ እውቅና ከተሰጣቸው 12 ተሸላሚዎች መካከል ሁለቱ በህይወት እንደሌሉ በጠቅላላ ጉባዔው ላይ ተገልጧል፡፡
ማህበሩ እውቅና የተሰጣቸው ተሸላሚዎች ከታች የተጠቀሱት ናቸው፡፡ እነሱም፡-
