4 KEY TIPS to remember in your online journey

Hi. This post is for you if you are just starting your im journey or you're losing hope on this "online dream".

There are not going to be methods here, it's even better, you're going to learn how to use potentially ANY method and maybe even create your own.

I'm 22 and in basically 5 months i've went from being the last wheel of the company to being their e-commerce manager. There is a whole story to that, but i'm just gonna tell you about what you want and need to know.

In my opinion, this is what made the difference in my journey:

Study (Invest in yourself)

This sounds clichè i know, but keep reading because this is not going to be some lame-ass motivational content. I'll give you facts based on my experience.

When i started this whole Digital marketing journey, i was OVERWHELMED by the amount of information that i had at my fingertips, and this can be a double edge sword if you do not think about a strategy.

Just this tip will save you MONTHS or possibly YEARS of time.

1) First thing to do, is to choose ONE topic that you might like: Copywriting, SEO, Web Design, Advertising etc. Please remember that i didnt say "Business" but TOPIC.

Let's say that you chose SEO, now for 4-5 days dedicate 10 MINUTES (Can be more can be less) to read AT LEAST 1 piece of content about that subject (I used and still love to read Journey threads). Obviously read beginner stuff lol

Use a timer and set it for X Minutes. If you find yourself actually wanting to read more and even more even if the timer is up, it's a really great sign! It means that you enjoy this topic. If you feel bored and can't even read a sentence or find excuses to postpone this, choose another TOPIC to study and repeat the process.

When you find the right topic, be a pro-active learner. I dont mean that you should start to take notes (could be helpful tho): when you are reading a SEO content with words or concepts that you dont understand, stop, do a quick search and read just the basic definition of that word/concept and then keep on reading the original content.

If while reading the new word/concept you find other new words or concept do the same thing- quick search, quick read and back on the previous content.

Example: SEO Content > Word: Backlink > What is a backlink? > Word: Do-Follow > What does Do-Follow mean in Backlinking?

When you are finished always go back to the previous content and repeat this process if necessary.

Now, this should be done EVERYTIME you read something, because you will slowly build up a vast KNOWLEDGE about the chosen topic, till you reach a level where you can read anything about it and you dont need to do a quick search anymore.

2) Nothing is too hard or complex to learn, you are just approaching it in the wrong way.

Let's keep SEO as an example, this is a really large and complex topic that touches pretty much any area of Digital Marketing.

I really started to grasp this topic when i understood what is Google main goal: give the searchers the best results possible.

Start to backtrack from there, what are the best results according to Google? It depends. On what? > Search what are the ranking factors of Google.

You will surely find different sub-topics under each topic like: backlinking, content writing, on page, off page, technical seo etc.

Just use the strategy in the first step, because a TOPIC can be broken down too, if you dont like On Page you can start by studying Off Page for example.

Eventually you will end up reading about anything related to SEO if you keep going.

3) When you will have a solid foundation of the BASICS you will HAVE to stay updated on ANY changes or new trend coming in that TOPIC. Follow BHW, any related blog/newsletter etc. etc.

This will make you keep reading old info to make your memory retention stronger, and also read about new exciting ideas or upcoming changes in the field.

4) Be obsessed about the BEST people/companies in the field. Literally, but not like a fan, but like a student preparing to take his/her master's place.
