By 2026, 90% of all payments in Dubai, from daily shopping to government services, should be digital. The goal is part of the city’s Cashless Strategy, launched in 2024 to make Dubai one of the top five cashless cities in the world by 2033.
Under the plan, all government and private sector payments must accept digital options. The city is already rolling out Nol card payments, tap-and-go taxis, and AI-powered financial services.
Going digital is expected to generate over AED 8 billion annually for the local economy. By 2026, every store in Dubai should support cashless payments.
