On Sunday (Slovenia), I went into entrance of large cafe. At the entrance a staff member said I must put on a mask, even though the entrance was empty, and inside the cafe was packed, and obviously with people not with a mask on.

I asked if I had mistaken the venue, as I did not think I had entered a theatre. She said I must understand there is a pandemic. I said I have a brain, and of course wearing a silly paper cloth is not going to make a blind bit of difference, and that pushing measures that don't make a difference, just make more harm to all.

She literally replied that I must "comply"! In her 20s, an age group I've found have bought deeply into this cult.

So I took out my riot gas mask (always handy to keep with you in Slovenia of late), and put that on. She said it was not legal anymore, it must be a medical mask. I said of course it's more protective than her paper mask. She said if I "won't comply" she will call the police.

I said call the police. She said she will and reached for the phone. I went into cafe, drank a double Americano. Then asked for one to go, and walked out drinking it (no mask obviously).

On the way out, she had gathered extra staff, who were watching me and at same time, seemingly also watching for arrival of police. And for a second they thought to stop me leaving!

But as for the BS, I've never complied and absolutely have no intention to. Next time I'll pack my rubber duck's head. Put medical mask on chin, duck's head over my head and walk in as a yellow duck, as I did also last year. The place has video cameras, there is no way in hell they can see inside of the duck's head so don't know what I'm wearing or not.

That same friend who is actually pro mask etc., said that when he flew into Slovenia last week on Ryan Air, he was woken by the stewardess who wanted to tell him his mask had slipped below his nose in his sleep and to pull it back up. When he looked around the other airline staff were walking up and down the alley selling toblerone, alcohol and potato chips, and that was no problem, to be drinking or eating junk food without a mask. But sleep and have your mask dip below your nose, absolutely not.

Heading out to coffee. Thought I'd never have to dress up again after last year. But here we go again. Let's see if they call police again today.

Lovely evening out with daughter. She very much enjoyed the evening. Well worth the effort to procure the yellow armbands.

Now arrived at the hotel. Will relax for rest of night, then bring her to school in the morning and then a drive back to Ljubljana.

The trams were already packed during rush hour. But even more so, now that they block half the tram (you are not allowed getting on front door or walking past the chain link) to "protect" the driver from coronavirus.

When checking out, the hotel front desk said it is law that I must wear a mask (and a medical mask at that).

I've not worn it once, in hotel, or anywhere else (restaurant).

I said "no thanks". She politely said it was law. I said we can stand outside to do my payment if she wants. She sort of laughed and continued with the payment processing.

But she said, the police have came to the hotel twice. And when they did eight officers came and blocked anyone from leaving the hotel until every guest was checked for documentation (vaccination or recovery, or if international business traveller, PCR).
