🌐 AFX Trade Loses $24M After Bridge Signing Keys Compromised

Arbitrum-based perpetuals DEX AFX Trade was drained of $24.15 million USDC after an attacker compromised the hot-validator signing keys to AFX's own custody bridge β€” not Arbitrum's native bridge, which Arbitrum co-founder Steven Goldfeder confirmed was unaffected.

The attacker gathered enough validator signatures to approve the full withdrawal, then bridged the stolen USDC from Arbitrum to Ethereum and swapped it for 12,467.5 ETH, now held in a single wallet. Security firms Blockaid and PeckShield flagged the exploit almost immediately.

AFX has offered the hacker a 30% bounty β€” roughly $7.2M β€” to return the remaining funds. The incident adds to a growing tally of losses this month, with July crypto hack losses approaching $100 million.

πŸ”Ή Requirements: Verified account, no prior Simple Earn Locked Products subscription before July 23, 09:00 UTC.
πŸ”Ή Rewards: 25 TURTLE per person, locked 150 days at 10% APR.

✍️ Community Challenge: Next Billion Investors

πŸ”Ή Rewards: 500 USDC pool β€” top 20 posts picked by Binance get 25 USDC each.

β‚Ώ Bitcoin and Ethereum Protocols Lose $35M in Coordinated Attacks

Multiple Bitcoin and Ethereum-linked protocols were drained of $35 million in a series of attacks that struck within hours of each other, targeting Verus, BΒ² Network, and other cross-chain systems.

The exploits did not break underlying cryptography. Instead, attackers leveraged compromised private keys, abused upgrade permissions, and bypassed validation checks β€” weaknesses in how protocols are managed and governed, not in the blockchains themselves.

The cluster of attacks highlights a recurring pattern in DeFi: the most critical vulnerabilities often sit in operational security and admin controls, not the code that users see.

πŸ“’ Samsung Wallet to Support Stablecoins After Galaxy Unpacked Reveal

Samsung has announced stablecoin support is coming to Samsung Wallet, positioning the app as a broader financial platform beyond payments and loyalty rewards.

The announcement came at the 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event, alongside the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Card. Samsung described the updated wallet as "the foundation of a connected financial ecosystem." The company showcased a wallet interface featuring Circle's USDC, though no official stablecoin partnerships have been confirmed yet.

No specific launch date or list of supported stablecoins has been announced beyond the USDC display shown at the event.

β‚Ώ Bitcoin Stalls at $68,000 as 3.55M BTC Hit Cost Basis

Bitcoin has gained roughly 10% in July, climbing from lows near $58,000 to around $63,955 β€” but its advance is stalling as it approaches $68,000.

The reason: 3.55 million BTC are sitting near their holders' cost basis at that level. When price reaches what holders originally paid, many tend to sell, creating a significant supply wall that is currently offsetting strong spot Bitcoin ETF demand.

ETF inflows have been a key driver of July's recovery, but the concentrated cluster of break-even sellers around $68,000 is proving difficult to push through without a major shift in buying pressure.

πŸ’° Payment Gateway Triple-A Loses $9.7M in Multi-Chain Hack

Triple-A, a global fiat-to-crypto payment gateway, has been hit by a major exploit. Attackers drained its hot wallets across four blockchains β€” Ethereum, Solana, TRON, and TON β€” stealing over $9.7 million in total.

Blockchain security firm PeckShield flagged the incident after on-chain analyst Specter first spotted suspicious transactions. The attacker then swapped the stolen assets and consolidated the proceeds on Ethereum β€” a common laundering tactic to obscure the trail.

Triple-A serves businesses and merchants processing crypto payments globally, making this a significant breach in crypto payment infrastructure. The full cause of the exploit has not been publicly confirmed yet.

πŸ“Š Stablecoin Volume Surges 4–5x as Supply Doubles Since 2024

Stablecoin supply has roughly doubled since January 2024, but transaction activity has grown even faster β€” up fourfold to fivefold β€” according to Coinbase Institutional, revealing a widening gap between available onchain liquidity and actual usage.

The data highlights stablecoins settling transactions around the clock, including weekends when traditional banking systems are offline. Settlement speeds are described as up to 8x faster than US cash rails, with the broader stablecoin network approaching $1 trillion in activity.

The divergence between market cap growth and volume growth suggests demand for dollar-denominated onchain activity is outpacing the simple accumulation of stablecoin reserves β€” a signal of deepening real-world utility rather than passive holding.

πŸ’° $7B Flows Into Chainlink as Bridge Hacks Drive Migration

Chainlink pulled in over $7 billion in token value onto its cross-chain infrastructure in Q2, according to its own quarterly review.

The surge was driven by two forces: crypto projects ditching older bridging systems following a $650 million wave of bridge hacks, and traditional finance firms moving deeper into tokenized asset markets β€” both turning to Chainlink as a more secure alternative.

The growth reflects accelerating institutional adoption on both sides of the digital-asset economy, with Chainlink expanding its role as core infrastructure for cross-chain transfers and real-world asset tokenization.

β‚Ώ Company Sells $87M in Bitcoin to Fund AI Data Centers

A firm holding Bitcoin as a treasury asset has sold down its BTC holdings and is redirecting capital toward AI data center infrastructure.

As of July 10, the company still held 1,514 BTC alongside $45 million in debt, while moving funds into two separate infrastructure investments.

The pivot marks a notable shift from a pure Bitcoin treasury strategy toward physical AI compute infrastructure β€” a trend gaining traction among crypto-native companies looking to diversify into the AI buildout.

πŸ”· Bitmine Now Holds 4.8% of All Ethereum Supply

Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) has grown its Ethereum holdings to 5.79 million ETH β€” roughly 4.8% of the entire ETH supply β€” after adding 9,946 ETH in its latest purchase.

The company reports $11.8 billion in total crypto, cash, marketable securities and other investments. Of its ETH stack, 4.92 million tokens are actively staked, valued at $9.6 billion. Bitmine also repurchased 6.1 million shares under its $4 billion buyback program.

Bitmine is emerging as one of the largest institutional holders of Ethereum, mirroring the corporate Bitcoin treasury strategy pioneered by Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy).

πŸ“Š $700M Liquidated as BTC, ETH and XRP Plunge Before FOMC

The crypto market took a sharp hit, with around $700 million in positions liquidated as Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP dropped sharply ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting.

Total crypto market capitalization shed roughly $80 billion during the Tuesday morning crash, hitting traders across major assets simultaneously.

The sell-off reflects heightened uncertainty around the Fed's upcoming rate decision, a pattern that has historically triggered volatility across risk assets including crypto.

🍎 Fake Bitcoin Wallet Drained $1.8M on Apple's App Store

Three users are suing Apple in federal court over a counterfeit Sparrow Wallet app that stole $1.835 million in Bitcoin β€” and the case has a damning detail: Apple allegedly kept the fake app live even after one victim reported an $875,000 theft.

According to the lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, a second user then lost roughly $840,000 after Apple failed to remove the app. The real Sparrow Wallet developer also reportedly warned Apple about the fake, but said his attempts were ignored.

The case directly challenges Apple's core App Store argument β€” that its closed ecosystem makes it the safest place to download software. Plaintiffs allege Apple "exploited consumer trust" by failing to act on known fraud reports.
