672 European financial institutions have financial relationships with 50 businesses that are actively involved with illegal Israeli settlements. Indian official: foreign fighters in India-administered Kashmir increase after Taliban takeover

The number of foreign militants in the region has risen for the first time since New Delhi ended India-administered Kashmir’s autonomous status in 2019, an Indian security official told Nikkei. Many are reportedly associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, groups that fought with the Taliban-affiliated Haqqani network in Afghanistan.

A German-Iranian professor at a Norwegian technical university was charged Wednesday with violating sanctions on Iran by inviting four guest researchers from the Islamic Republic and giving them access to a laboratory.

A Norwegian prosecutor said the visiting researchers had access to knowledge that could be useful to Iran’s nuclear program.

Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported that during the period from February 2018 to 2019 the professor, who was not identified, invited four Iranian researchers to NTNU university in Trondheim.

The diplomatic discord between Algeria and France deepened Sunday after Algiers banned French military planes from its airspace, its latest response to a row over visas and critical comments from President Emmanuel Macron.

France's jets regularly fly over the former French colony to reach the Sahel region of West Africa, where its soldiers are helping to battle jihadist insurgents as part of its Operation Barkhane.

A spokesperson for the French Armed Forces said Algeria had closed its airspace to two flights, but that it would have "no major consequences" for operations in the Sahel region.

At least five civilians died in a bombing outside a mosque in #Kabul, according to a Taliban spokesman. The attack seemed to target a funeral. #Taiwan has reported a record number of incursions by Chinese warplanes into its air defence identification zone (ADIZ) for the second day in a row, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense said.

The self-governing island said a total of 39 Chinese military aircraft entered the ADIZ on Saturday, one more than the 38 planes it spotted on Friday.

The 38 and 39 planes respectively are the highest number of incursions Taiwan has reported in a day since it began publicly reporting such activities last year.
