Explanation⬇️
The correct answer is (c).
United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, established in 1994, is the sole legally binding international agreement linking the environment and development to sustainable land management. It addresses specifically the arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas, known as the dry-lands, where some of the most vulnerable ecosystems and people can be found.
The focus of the Convention is to get community support to combat desertification and follow the decentralized approach.
It aims to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought in countries experiencing serious drought and/or desertification, particularly in Africa. Hence, statement 2 is not correct.
It seeks to take effective action at all levels, supported by international cooperation and partnership arrangements in the framework of an integrated approach which is consistent with Agenda 21, with a view to contributing to the achievement of sustainable development in affected areas. Hence, statement 1 is correct.
To involve long-term integrated strategies that focus simultaneously, in affected areas, on improved productivity of land, and the rehabilitation, conservation and sustainable management of land and water resources, leading to improved living conditions, in particular at the community level.
Parties should ensure that decisions on the design and implementation of programmes to combat desertification and/or mitigate the effects of drought are taken with the participation of the populations and local communities and that an enabling environment is created at higher levels to facilitate action at national and local levels. Hence, statement 3 is correct.
Therefore, option (c) is the correct answer.

Explanation⬇️
The correct answer is (a).
Towards the beginning of the twentieth century a new hybrid architectural style developed which combined the Indian and the European styles. It came to be known as Indo-Saracenic. “Indo” was shorthand for Hindu and “Saracen” was a term Europeans used to designate Muslim. Hence, statement 1 is true.
The inspiration for this style was medieval buildings in India with their domes, chhatris, jalis, arches, etc.
By integrating Indian and European styles in public architecture the British wanted to prove that they were legitimate rulers of India. Hence, statement 2 is true.
The Gateway of India, built in the traditional Gujarati style to welcome King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911, is the most famous example of this style.
Both the statements are individually true and Statement II is the correct explanation of Statement I.
Therefore, option (a) is the correct answer.
