My pa het lank gelede vir my hierdie raad gegee toe ek in my eerste woonstel ingetrek het. Hy het selfs uitgekom en die skroewe vir my verander nadat ek ingetrek het.
’n Goeie huissekuriteitswenk waaraan jy dalk nog nooit gedink het nie. Die meeste kontrakteurs installeer die plate met die ingeslote skroewe wat net 'n halfduim lank is, en met een skop deur 'n inbreker kan uitkom.
Ek het 4 duim skroewe in hul plek geïnstalleer wat deur die deurkosyn en in die raamwerk van die woonstel gaan.
Hulle kan lank skop voor hulle moeg word! Jy kan op die foto die skroef sien wat by die deur gekom het, en die een wat ek gebruik het.
Dit sal maak dat 'n inbreker of ongenooide gas 'n klomp geraas maak in hulle pogingd en in hul aanvanklike plan gefnuik word, wat jou tyd kan gee om jouself te bewapen, maar hulle sal heel waarskynlik na 'n makliker teiken aanbeweeg.
Doen moeite...en vervang die paar skroewe.

My dad gave me this advice a long time ago when I moved into my first apartment.
He even came out and changed the screws for me as soon as I moved in. Someone else recently posted about it and I thought I would share.
A good home security tip that you may have never thought about.
Most contractors install the plates with the supplied screws which are only a half inch long and come out with one kick by a burglar. I installed 4 inch screws in their place that go through the door frame and into the framing of the apartment. They can kick for a long time before they get tired!
You can see in the picture the screw that came with the door, and the one I used. Making a burglar or uninvited guest make a bunch of noise and be foiled in their initial plan which can give you time to arm yourself but they will most likely move on to an easier target.
Make the change...
