Elderly couple SEVERELY beaten with iron bars in BRUTAL farm attack

The elderly couple suffered serious brain injuries and skull fractures after they were SEVERELY beaten with iron bars in a farm attack.
An elderly couple was so SEVERLY beaten with iron bars during a BRUTAL farm attack that they both sustained serious brain injuries and skull fractures.
THE ELDERLY COUPLE ARE STILL FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES IN HOSPITAL
The elderly couple Joop (87) and Carla (85) van Reeuwyk are still fighting for their lives in the trauma intensive care unit at Millpark Hospital.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh, the couple on their farm at Mooinooi near Brits during a farm attack on Monday evening.
They were attacked by an unknown number of robbers in their house on the Topaz flower farm around 10:00 p.m. and brutally assaulted and beaten over the head with iron bars.
THEY WERE ASSAULTED AND BEATEN OVER THE HEAD WITH IRON BARS
Their daughter Astrid told the media that they still have very little information as her parents have not yet been able to tell what happened.
“They suffered serious brain injuries and skull fractures. My mother is currently undergoing surgery to relieve the bleeding on the brain.”
Myburgh said the couple was attacked around 23:00 on Monday evening.
BLOOD WAS FOUND ALL OVER THE HOUSE
“Information from the scene indicates that the attackers gained entry by breaking a window. It is believed the elderly couple was already asleep in their bedroom on the opposite side of the house.”
“The two elderly people were very badly assaulted. There was blood all over the house, and it seems as if the elderly man was also strangled,” she said.
Myburgh furthermore said the elderly man managed to shout a friend’s name over the radio during the attack, and when the friend did not get a response, they knew something was wrong and rushed to the house.”

As the farmers approached the house, three suspects were seen running into bushes. A large-scale search for the suspects was launched.
A LARGE-SCALE SEARCH WAS LAUNCHED
No arrests have been made yet.
The badly injured couple were rushed to hospital.
Myburgh praised the community for their swift action.
“The farmers in the area probably saved the couple’s lives.”
