Residents and business are advised to prepare for the illegal protest involving about 20 to 30 people on the R617 to continue tomorrow.

The muncipality suffers R85 million in electricity losses every year. This amounts to 40 cents on every Rand paid. We have taken a tough stance on electricity theft.

To protect the poor and vulnerable, households who earn R5000 or less can register for free basic electricity. The Municipality will provide 150 units (R650) every month for qualifying households. They will also qualify for R0 rates and free refuse collection.

The muncipality will not entertain illegal protests that damage public infrastructure.

Democratically elected structures are in place to take up community issues and grievances.

The muncipality will tomorrow, 11/07, engage with public transport providers about the effects of the illegal action on commuters.
