Itโs frustrating that the Ethiopian government isnโt supporting A2SV, while billions are spent on 43 universitiesโmany of which barely exist. No Ethiopian university has ever sent a student to Silicon Valley on its own. A2SV has. Repeatedly. Right now, A2SV is doing more for tech talent in Ethiopia than all 43 universities combined. It deserves serious support. #supporta2sv
A2SV (Africa to Silicon Valley), founded by Emre Varol, has already spent over $660,000โwithout government supportโto train and launch the careers of dozens of brilliant Ethiopian developers. These students now work at Google, Amazon, Meta, Palantir, Databricks and other global tech giants.
Now, Emre is in talks to move A2SVโs HQ to Rwanda, where they see the value. He has publicly said that any future funding will not be invested in Ethiopia unless our government or wealthy Ethiopian allies step up and support.
