US heavy truck sales declined -20,000 in August, to a 422,000 annualized rate, the lowest since January 2022.
This marks the 4th consecutive monthly decline.
Since May 2023, truck sales have plummeted -131,000, or 24%.
In previous economic cycles, such a drop has often occurred before or during a recession.
As a result of the prolonged decline, the 3-month moving average of sales has fallen to 438,000, the lowest since the 2020 pandemic.
