NEW: 15-year-old carriage horse collapses and passes away in New York City.
According to a local carriage horse spokesperson, the horse named 'Lady' had only been working in the city for about two months.
"Lady's death is the result of a failed system… Horses are collapsing, suffering and dying over and over again – and nothing changes," said nonprofit animal rights organization NYCLASS.
It's unclear what caused Lady the horse to collapse. The incident took place at the corner of West 51st Street and 11th Avenue.
According to Fox 5, there are 68 carriages and 200 horses in New York City.
