In the end, always had to be this way

Has to be people outside of the bad countries being the loudest detractors of those countries

Has to be people outside of big tech to be big tech’s biggest detractors

When you’re on the inside, both have far too much power to silence you

Growing up I had never even conceived of a fire in the Palisades - I did not grow up understanding that wildfires were something to fear. But when I returned in 2018 it was immediately clear. The first time I conceived of the apocalypse was the Woolsey Fire in November of 2018. Ever since then, the fires have been inching closer and closer.

Then, last night, they took it all.

As I write this, I'm still watching the palisades burn. My understanding is the fire is 0% controlled and still growing exponentially. But what we do know is grim. The videos are horrific, all of us looking for shots of our houses on TV or the internet. But all of us know it will never be the same.
