On October 27, 2025, Bellevue, WA police responded to an apartment in the 13700 block of Northeast 10th Street. Avinash Narne, 30, called 911 and reported his wife was locked in the bathroom and would not come out. Officers broke in and found 27-year-old Raajitha Sabbineni dead on the floor.
Narne identified himself to police as an Amazon software engineer. He told detectives he had been out running errands for roughly 40 minutes.
What the charging documents allege:
Front door security data showed no one else entered the home while Narne was out. Prosecutors say he was the only other person there.
Narne maintained a relationship with another woman in India that began before his marriage. She attended his wedding. He called her at least four times the day Sabbineni died, including around the time he claimed to be trying to get into the bathroom. He allegedly referenced sending her a photo of the body the next day.
In the weeks before her death, Sabbineni messaged multiple times that her drinks tasted bitter. The day she died, she said a smoothie Narne made tasted like medicine and cough syrup.
Prosecutors allege premeditation and a staged crime scene. Bail is $5 million. They cite extreme flight risk back to India.
The open question: Narne told police in October he worked at Amazon. He was a free man for nearly 8 months while the investigation was open. If he is here on a H-1B visa and was let go, he would have had to find a new job in 60 days or go back.
Amazon has not commented on his employment status during that period, and no reporting has established whether he remained on staff.
