UPDATE: Why I No Longer Trust Chud’s Lawyer to Handle the Petition

In addition to the public statement released by Mr. Fendley yesterday, I sent a formal email to the Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk (Wendy J. Davis) formally requesting that the public petition (now 900++ signatures) and supporting bail comparison data be entered into the official court record ahead of Thursday’s bond hearing.

I CC’d Jake Fendley on the email.

Instead of acknowledging the request or offering to help get the petition into the record, here’s how he responded:

“Please understand bail is set by Judges not by the Court Clerk… She just files the documents the attorneys file…”

He completely missed the point.

I wasn’t asking the Clerk to set bail. I was asking her to accept and file the petition into the official record — something any member of the public has the right to request.

This exchange further raises serious concerns about whether Mr. Fendley is fully engaged or willing to aggressively advocate for strong public support and constitutional arguments in this case.

The public has stepped up. Over 900 people have signed in under 48 hours showing massive concern about the unconstitutional $1.25M excessive bail.

We need this petition in the official record on Thursday.
