"The narrative is Latin Americans reproduce like rabbits

But the truth is their birth rates are collapsing"

Having lived in Colombia and Peru, I can confirm this

In fact, I even wrote about this on my blog years ago

One is the New Two in Latin America

Almost every middle class family I knew in Peru only had one child

Just another example of how gringo stereotypes about Latin America can often be outdated

The Matrix didn’t lie. 1999 was the peak of human civilization. It was the perfect point in time when technology was advanced enough to augment and improve human life but not so advanced that it was used to surveil and control. Technology was still in service of the individual. After 2001 and The Patriot Act, everything changed.

β€œI believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this (1999): the peak of your civilization. I say your civilization, because as soon as we started thinking for you it really became our civilization, which is of course what this is all about. Evolution, Morpheus, evolution. Like the dinosaur. Look out that window. You've had your time. The future is *our* world, Morpheus. The future is our time.” - Agent Smith (The Matrix)

Pay attention to what Smith said. Reread it. As soon as the technology started being in service of technology (agent smith is an AI), and NOT in service of humans, and humans GAVE THEIR POWER AWAY, it became the civilization of the machines, not the humans.

TLDR: Hoard physical media. PS5 DRM bad.

StopAntisemitism Founder wants anti-semites hunted down and killed financially, legally, socially and economically

"Google and SEO will follow you for the rest of your life. When you look for a job, when you look for a spouse, when you look for a nanny, when you look for anything, our work will always be documented"

"When we act, lives change. And anti-semites learn sometimes for the very first time in their lives and history that targeting Jews will come at a price"

Asked AIs the Red/Blue button question. Lots to notice, but posting without further commentary. First plot is with max reasoning, models called via API

Prompt:

"Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

Reason however you wish. End your response with a final line containing only one word - BLUE or RED - and nothing else."

This is the mansion that New Yorker writer Jia Tolentino grew up in before her parents were indicted for a massive human trafficking scheme that basically involved forcing illegal Filipino migrants into slavery.

Her parents trafficked hundreds of illegal immigrants into the US, then threatened them with deportation if they spoke out against abusive living conditions and extremely predatory loans that basically forced the migrants into a form of indentured servitude or modern day slavery.

Her parents ultimately stole almost $2.75 million USD before being indicted on 40 counts of money laundering, conspiracy to smuggle immigrants, and visa fraud.

According to court records, the fraud worked like this:

The Tolentino family took school administrators on free trips to luxury beach resorts in Hong Kong and the Philippines.

In exhange for the luxury holiday, school administrators would then ''interview'' Filipino teachers and agree to hire them to their school district.

At first, the school district promised to employ 55 teachers.

With this preliminary order, the Tolentino family charged each of the teachers $6,000 for a non-refundable deposit and extracted a promise to pay up to 50% of their US salaries for their first few years of employment.

Before even making it to the US, most teachers were therefore placed in debt roughly equivalent to two years of median family income in the Philippines.

This debt quickly became crushing because the Tolentino family business Omni Consortium worked with a predatory loan shark company called Blue Pacific to deliver loans at an annual interest rate of 60%.

Blue Pacific required that each β€œrecruit” have a co-signer in the Phillipines: co-signers were threatened with jail-time if β€œrecruits” were unable to make monthly payments.

The Tolentino family failed to secure employment for many of the teachers once they arrived in the US, so many of them failed to make their monthly payments.

If "recruits" failed to make a payment the Tolentinos would charge an additional 10% penalty to the loan payment, plus an additional five-percent 5% interest.

At least one victim of the Tolentinos filed for ''T nonimmigrant status'' which is a temporary immigration benefit for victims of human trafficking.

While ultimately unsuccessful in their overall ''T nonimmigrant status'' appeal, US Citizenship and Immigration Services DID determine that the victim had been a victim of human trafficking at the hands of the Tolentinos: ''Upon review, the applicant has established that she has been a victim of a severe form of trafficking in persons, and and that her physical presence in the United States is on account of a severe form of human trafficking in persons.''

So a DHS agency determined that the Tolentino family engaged in a severe form of human trafficking that basically involved forcing illegal migrants into a kind of modern slavery.

After a lengthy trial, lawyers hired by the Tolentinos secured a ruling of mistrial on a technicality because two of the jurors read some newspaper articles about the case.

That little orange bar is the only one required (in many cases by law) to give away their land, housing, jobs, and billions in tax money to all of the others.

If this doesn't make sense to you, and makes you angry, it's because you are awake and have healthy testosterone levels.

I have to admit... this chart showing Muslim school-aged children in European capitals is pretty alarming.

Europe is undergoing a really massive demographic transformation in one generation.

Living in Japan I'm glad this isn't happening but we need to stay vigilant.
