Hedge funds continue to aggressively cover their short positions:
Hedge fund short exposure in US-listed ETFs fell -11.5% last week, the largest weekly short covering over the last decade.
At the same time, purchases of macro products, including index futures and ETFs, were the largest since May 2025.
As a result, hedge fund exposure to global equity macro products has only been higher in 3% of cases over the last 5 years.
The magnitude of the unwind suggests hedge funds were caught offside by the ceasefire rally and were forced to cover.
Hedge funds are rushing back into equities.

NEW: A heckler repeatedly whistled and screamed during NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani's outdoor announcement of the city's first publicly-owned grocery store at La Marqueta in East Harlem.
The project is expected to cost roughly $30 million in taxpayer funds for construction. Plans call for five stores total, one in each borough. The Harlem location is targeted to open by the end of 2027 to improve access to affordable groceries.

China is well positioned to withstand the impact of the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz:
Before the war, China purchased ~14% of its oil from Saudi Arabia, 11% from Iran, and 29% from the rest of the Middle East.
Russia supplied another 20%, with the remaining 26% coming from the rest of the world.
Despite the war, Iranian oil has continued flowing to China, making the country the least affected Asian nation.
However, China has still lost at least 20% of its total oil imports despite Saudi Arabia and the UAE rerouting crude through alternative export channels.
China has also built the world's largest strategic petroleum reserve over the last decade, with more than 1 billion barrels of crude stockpiled.
As a result, even a 2-month loss of Iranian supply would only deplete China's emergency reserves by ~10%.
China has been preparing for this situation for years.

NEW: 60-year-old cancer survivor is trying to become the oldest person to play college football.
Tom Green, a 60-year-old freshman political science major at McDaniel College, has made the football roster.
Green owns a wooden pallet company in Pennsylvania and never went to college.
In 2015, he was diagnosed with Stage IV kidney cancer. He said he "was checking out in 2017," but ended up beating cancer.
Green plays defensive line and made the DIII team as a walk-on. He is also a full-time student, as that is a requirement to play on the team.
"I knew that the number was 61, that's the oldest player who ever played. I'm going to be 61 in June, so I'm going to be tying that record. But he the record holder just kicked extra points; he was a kicker," Green said to a local news outlet.
Beast.
