JUST IN: Manhattan attorney sobs in court as he is sentenced in $4.4 million COVID fraud scheme.
Bryan McKenna was accused of siphoning money to fund his romance with his CEO girlfriend and for his son's mental health.
Assistant DA Jonathan Borle said McKenna used funds on his girlfriend, the CEO of AstZen Group, Duni Zenaye.
"Elkay Plastics, a packaging manufacturer and distributor, had contacted AstZen Group to buy 500,000 boxes of medical-grade latex gloves to use as PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic, and placed the $4.45 million into an escrow account run by McKenna," the New York Post reported.
"The attorney in January 2021 had agreed to hold the funds in escrow until AstZen Group shipped the gloves, but by April, he had drained the account dry, according to the indictment against him."
Prosecutors say McKenna used the money to further a romantic relationship and "benefit his personal life."
"I did these crimes, I deserve to go to jailβ¦ I donβt know what else to say for myself," McKenna said in court.
He was sentenced to between 2 and 6 years.

American is a healthy 28 year old, he decided to skip paying for health insurance this year because the cheapest plan was $900 per month with a high deductible
He had to spend 2 nights in the ER without insurance, he breaks down the bill
βThis is my receipt from spending 2 days in the hospital:
- It totaled about $24,000
- My CT scan alone was $8,300
- Laboratory, 6,000
- IV therapy, $1,020, $4,000 in total
And while $24,000 seems like a lot of money, let me show you something. This is what I'm actually paying, $2,478
because when you don't have insurance, these hospitals give you a discount. They discounted $22,000 off of this billβ
βBut if I had insurance, I wouldn't have gotten that discount. So it would've been a $24,000 bill billed to my insurance, and then my insurance would've said, βHey, you have a $5,000 deductible. You need to pay $5,000 for this last emergency room visit.β
Then you tack on the $900 a month that I'd be paying for that insurance. I'd be paying $20K this year for healthcare.
So the craziest part about this is even if I have another hospital visit, by the end of this year, I'm still gonna be paying less than I would if I had insurance. At minimum, my cost for healthcare this year would've been $20,000 with insurance. Right now I'm at $2,400.β

Anno 2026?
Kerken organiseren vrijwillig iftars wereldwijd..

Disparate impact law makes it essentially impossible to prevent this--as cracking down on "bullies" would result in a "disparate impact," as was all but admitted in this case--and even "good schools" can become otherwise with a bit of Section 8
The sturdy gates of what should be unnecessary expense can generally keep that away. Further, the cost and screening liberate good students from the millstone of the bottom 25%, an increasing problem as "gifted" programs at public schools are done away with in the name of equality
Which is why families scrimp and save to afford what Nick called an unnecessary expense. Unfortunately, Eisenhower sent in the 101st Airborne to make it necessary
