They set up a fake company with a website and marketed it as an AI crypto project then waited for market makers to offer wash trading services
Three firms took the bait and one guy described himself as "the mastermind" on a recorded call then asked for $2,000 upfront to start pumping the volume
18 people were charged across multiple countries and $25 million in assets were seized
First time in history law enforcement created a cryptocurrency and rugged it at the same time
