Seen it a million times,

Probably 80% of guys who went from broke to rich overnight, usually via startup acquisitions, had nearly identical stories about a sudden extreme flip in their girlfriend’s behavior

Not talk gold-digger types, but rather usually opposite, plenty whose girlfriends were super independent types with their own careers, who would swear up and down that they didn’t care how much money the guy had

In nearly every case, nearly all were on the verge of breaking, or already broken up with the guy, being increasingly annoying to the extreme and making the guy’s life hell

…until the acquisition hits, and then suddenly the suddenly like clockwork the same women would completely flip, suddenly begging the guys to get married, suddenly out of nowhere doing all kinds of trad wife stuff the guy never asked for at all, suddenly begging for kids right now

Directly experienced it 2x myself, seen it dozens of times with guys I’d worked with, in a couple places I’d worked at which had acquired many startups

Coach Bruce’s comical story is wildly true beyond what you’d ever believe, until you see it yourself

Among the strongest evidence of these is the numerous studies of “resource shocks” e.g. mining booms and busts, around the years over the decades

— which like startup acquisitions, suddenly turns a bunch of below-average salary guys (typical for startups to intentionally take below-market salaries as a sign of confidence to their investors), into suddenly rich guys, overnight

EXACT SAME findings:

+ Before mining boom, when men and women are earning similar = low fertility

+ Mining boom hits, suddenly causing the men to far out-earn the women = suddenly tons of the women are begging to get pregnant, fertility boom

+ Mining bust hits = fertility again plummets

Men earning similar to women collapses fertility, no matter how much the couple earns.

Men suddenly earning far more than women, fertility booms.

Many women instinctually HATING this reality, perhaps because they can’t stand some implication that they’re gold diggers or whatever.

Guess what, GUYS HATE THIS REALITY FAR MORE.

But love it or hate it, it’s an overwhelmingly confirmed, undeniable reality, not for all, but for the vast majority of the population.
