Exports jumped +$15.9 billion MoM, or +6%, fueled by outbound shipments of gold, computers, and aircraft.
Imports fell -$2.6 billion MoM, or -1%, led by a decline in pharmaceuticals, autos, and consumer goods.
Since March 2025, the deficit has shrunk -$81.4 billion, or -60%.
Adjusted for inflation, the merchandise trade deficit narrowed to -$83.9 billion in January, a positive signal for Q1 GDP.
