MINES IN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ COULD PARALYZE GLOBAL OIL

CNN says that Iran may have begun mining the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical shipping corridors.

Naval mines are extremely effective because you don’t need many to shut down traffic, insurers and shipping companies simply refuse to risk sending tankers through.

Iran is believed to have thousands of naval mines and can deploy them quickly using small boats, submarines, or even disguised civilian vessels.

The real problem comes after: clearing mines is slow, dangerous work, and even after a war ends it could take weeks to reopen the strait, keeping global oil flows disrupted.

Hedge fund allocation to South Korean equities remains high:

Net allocation to Korean stocks, which measures the size of hedge fund bets on prices going higher, stands at ~5.0%, the highest in at least 5 years.
