Britain has angered its allies with its painfully slow response to the Iran war.
The HMS Dragon destroyer is still sitting in Portsmouth.
It won't be ready to sail until next week, then needs another week to reach Cyprus.
The proposal to send it only hit the chief of defense staff's desk Tuesday morning, 4 days after the war started.
Cyprus had to call France for help instead.
The Cypriot high commissioner said Cyprus is "disappointed" in the UK government.
Middle Eastern allies are furious about Britain's delays in letting the U.S. use its bases.
A former minister says the UAE, Kuwait, and even Canada are asking "What the f*ck are you doing?"
Britain eventually deployed jets and gave missile interceptors to allies.
But the damage from the dithering might be impossible to recover from.

To win a war, (In this case a war that we started), it's critical to understand the history and thinking of your adversary. To know his limits.
Iran defended itself from Iraq for 8 years during the Iran-Iraq War. The USA supported Saddam Hussein in his offensive war to conquer Iranian territory. About a half-million Iranians died, the figures vary. They did not surrender, but rallied and pushed the Iraqis back out of Iran.
This war included the widespread use of poison gas by the Iraqis. The U.S. and Germany provided Iraq the precursor chemicals. (Later, Saddam used poison gas against his own Kurds, and that is the part we remember.) The Iran-Iraq War also included SCUD missile attacks in both directions, but primarily by the Iraqis against Iranian cities.
Those Iran-Iraq war veterans are now men in their 60s, and they are greatly respected. This history is taught to all Iranians, that the USA backed Iraq in this long and bloody war of aggression against their nation. The concept of fighting an 8-year war of attrition is well known to them. The younger generations of Iranians will not surrender to what is seen as another American war of aggression.
In my opinion, Iran will never surrender, not even if we turn Teheran into Gaza or Dresden.

Russia might quietly be one of the biggest winners right now
The U.S. and Gulf states have already fired hundreds of Patriot interceptors stopping Iranian missiles and drones.
Same interceptors Ukraine desperately needs against Russia.
The problem: production is slow.
Around 600 a year, and it often takes 2 or 3 just to stop 1 ballistic missile.
Ukraine says it needs about 60 every month just to keep up with Russian strikes.
Meanwhile Russia is pumping out around 80 ballistic missiles a month and launching waves of Shahed drones.
So while everyoneβs focused on Iran, Russia is quietly benefiting from the West running low on air defense.
On the other hand, with the oil crisis, many countries could start demanding energy from Russia.
It's a win-win for them.
