Retail investor activity in the US options market is through the roof:
Retail investors' average daily options volume in precious metals has been 6.6 TIMES larger YTD in 2026 than the entire 2023.
Retail options activity in gold and silver has exceeded every other year since 2020 by at least 300%.
As a result, total options activity among individual investors hit an all-time high last month.
This comes as retail traders made +22% more daily options transactions than in January 2025.
This was also ~50% higher than the 2020-2025 January average.
Retail appetite for risk is at record levels.
