The more I see of the “GNOME removing Middle Click to Paste” issue, the more damning it gets.
Not only is their key motivation for disabling the feature that “Middle Click” is an “X11ism”, and they hate X11 for political reasons…
But, as they attempt to find some sort of non-political reason to justify the change… they appear to have settled on “Linux should act exactly like Windows”.
Not a joke. “Linux desktop has 4% market share,” says one GNOME team member. “That's still 96% of users that are used to environments where… middle click paste doesn't exist.”
Therefore, according to GNOME, they should disable that feature. Because Linux, apparently, should behave exactly like Windows.
