The Taliban in Afghanistan forced a 13-year-old boy to execute a man convicted of killing his family. A public execution attended by an estimated 80,000 people.
Three men were found guilty of murdering 13 members of the boy’s family, including women and children. The court sentenced them under ‘Qisas’ - a retaliation punishment under Sharia law similar to the Biblical principle of ‘an eye for an eye’.
Huge crowds of men gathered at a sports stadium in Khost to witness the “inhuman and cruel” spectacle
Two other convicted men have also been sentenced to death, but their executions have not yet been carried out.
