Crazy or genius?

BREAKING - US Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow has revealed widespread immigration fraud among nearly half of all Somali immigrants in Minneapolis, involving forged documents, fake marriages, missing employers, and nonexistent businesses profiting off taxpayer-funded incentives

One of the reasons it is unwise to assume that the relationship between variables like household income and kids' IQ is causal is because society is meritocratic

Smart (dull) people tend to move up (down), and they'll transmit ability to their kids regardless of household income

$60,000 balance seen on an EBT card

β€œThe largest that I've heard about is right at around $60,000 on an EBT card. Nobody's going hungry in that house, obviously.”

β€œOne of the ways that people commit food stamp fraud or SNAP fraud is you get a card and it's got a certain amount of value to it, then you sell it for less than the value of what you can buy in terms of food, but you sell it for cash.

It creates incentives for people to, number one, acquire as many cards as possible, number two, to keep as high a balance on these cards as possible.

I've seen cards as much as $20,000, this was on an EBT card.

So how does that happen

β€” People are just kept on the program for years, and they keep rolling these balances up and whether they're using the card or not. they're supposed to get rid of it and expunge the benefits after 9 months.

But if all you go and do is buy a stick of gum once every 9 months, your balance in your card, even if you're no longer on SNAP, that card is still good.

It's happening across the country. In fact, the largest that I've heard about is right at around $60,000 on an EBT card. No- nobody's going hungry in that house, obviously.”

Wasted all of yesterday on this horsesh&t Codex constantly lies that it can see images, when really it’s not multi-modal at all, and instead at best does a tool call to crudely convert images and questions about images into text, which works absolutely horribly…
So yeah like I was saying,

Even the latest AIs shockingly horrible at basic UI-modification tasks

Really really bad

They can make a great first draft, but are horrible at making vision-based modifications

My best guess?

Vision AIs, since the dawn of time, have always been architecturally regularized for:

(1) scale invariance

(2) position invariance

I.e. their architecture was intentionally made such that they literally cannot see difference in size or position, which leads to all kinds of other problems too, like being unable to count objects in an image well, etc

Today’s UIs unfortunately shockingly bad at many basic real-world vision tasks, while being shockingly great at other vision tasks

Would bet that the above is why

Should be fixable, but seems the big AI companies haven’t even really tried yet

The study being cited here is clear:

Tariffs "lower inflation" by tanking the economy.

Yes, you can lower prices if people no longer have salaries to pay for things with. But let's not do that.

The sad reality is that most women's "beauty" decisions are trend-driven - without much, or any, serious thought about beauty behind them. For instance, thigh-highs are $5 and few women wear them; tattoos are much more expensive and look terrible, but many women get them anyway
