Own assets or be left behind:
US consumer sentiment among non-stockholders is down to its lowest level since the University of Michigan began tracking it in 1998.
This marks a ~10 point decline over the last several months.
During the same time, sentiment among the biggest stockholders has improved ~10 points, to near the highest level this year.
As a result, the gap between the largest stockholders and non-stockholders has widened to ~20 points, the highest since late 2024.
This comes as concerns about the job market are at their highest since the 1980s, while the S&P 500 trades near all-time highs.
The stock market boom is leaving Main Street behind.

So, story about Iβve been meaning to share for a while, from when I was young
β SHOCKINGLY IDENTICAL
Repeatedly getting in big trouble with mom for constantly βlosingβ things, school books, school supplies, non-cheap toys, even when I had my name permanently written in all of them
Went on for a couple years
Lead up to an English teacher even stealing cash from my hands, against my will, to supposedly pay for a missing school book
Until one day, I went over to a friendβs house for the first time, was chilling in his bedroom, and
β Bam, there was all my stuff, right there, with my name still written on it and everything. School books, expensive toys, everything
Motherfcker was a serial thief, of stuff he didnβt even need, while playing friend
Yes he was the only black kid in this private school
Half black to be precise, black father white mother. Fwiw his black father was present, so none of this absent father lack of nurturing nonsense explanations applicable here.
So, what stereotypes did I learn when I found out?
Nothing
Only guy like that Iβd hung out with, first ever crazy woke English teacher Iβd dealt with
No recognizable patterns yet
Sample size of 1
But, looking back⦠man
Shockingly identical to the situation laid out here
PSA for mothers: If your kid is constantly losing things then some jackass thief in their class is stealing from them, OBVIOUSLY, you retarded idiots

One of the reasons it is unwise to assume that the relationship between variables like household income and kids' IQ is causal is because society is meritocratic
Smart (dull) people tend to move up (down), and they'll transmit ability to their kids regardless of household income

$60,000 balance seen on an EBT card
βThe largest that I've heard about is right at around $60,000 on an EBT card. Nobody's going hungry in that house, obviously.β
βOne of the ways that people commit food stamp fraud or SNAP fraud is you get a card and it's got a certain amount of value to it, then you sell it for less than the value of what you can buy in terms of food, but you sell it for cash.
It creates incentives for people to, number one, acquire as many cards as possible, number two, to keep as high a balance on these cards as possible.
I've seen cards as much as $20,000, this was on an EBT card.
So how does that happen
β People are just kept on the program for years, and they keep rolling these balances up and whether they're using the card or not. they're supposed to get rid of it and expunge the benefits after 9 months.
But if all you go and do is buy a stick of gum once every 9 months, your balance in your card, even if you're no longer on SNAP, that card is still good.
It's happening across the country. In fact, the largest that I've heard about is right at around $60,000 on an EBT card. No- nobody's going hungry in that house, obviously.β
