US small businesses are worried about the economy:
The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index fell -0.6 points, to 98.2 in October, the lowest in 6 months.
This comes as the net share of small business owners reporting higher earnings over the last 3 months dropped -9 percentage points, to -25%, the lowest since May.
This marks the largest monthly decline since the 2020 pandemic.
The drop was driven by weaker sales and surging material costs.
Meanwhile, expectations for economic improvement over the next 6 months fell -3 percentage points, to 20%, the lowest since April.
Small businesses are worried.
