Branded in the West as the “Merchant of Death”, Viktor Bout was sentenced in the US for allegedly plotting to sell weapons and returned to Russia in a 2022 prisoner swap. This film explores his story through an exhibition of about 40 paintings and prison belongings, created and collected during the years he spent behind bars learning languages and turning confinement into art.

Beginners can learn Russian online, at a convenient time, at their own pace and, now, in their own language!
Previously, our free online Russian course for beginners was only available in English. However, we’ve now added three more versions:

The course is designed for those who are taking their first steps in Russian and want to confidently reach level A1 (Elementary).
🚂 Each unit of the course is a new episode of an ongoing mini-story. The main character, an Englishman named John, is embarking on a train journey across all of Russia from Moscow to Vladivostok to meet a girl he’s never seen.
