This is an excellent analysis by Micah Hanks, writing for The Debrief, about the AARO historical report which discusses a July 1952 shoot down attempt against a flying saucer involved in the Washington DC flyovers. Part of a small flying saucer was shot off and examined by various mil/govt authorities. Hanks focuses on historical errors in analyzing the retrieved UFO by AARO and the 1969 Condon Committee. Most would agree with him that "government disclosure" is a good idea due to the ever present need for greater govt transparency and accountability. The problem with his article, however, is that he frames disclosure as something that is yet to happen and that we need public officials to release all they know to make genuine progress. That perspective overlooks that there are two types of disclosure at play when it comes to UFOs. We need to distinguish between "official" and "public disclosure". While official or government disclosure is yet to happen as Mellon correctly points out, "public disclosure" has already happened in the form of many hundreds of whistleblowers, contactees, witnesses, etc., coming forward to reveal what they know on these topics. While there is a paucity of data from official sources, there is an abundance of credible info from first hand witnesses to extraterrestrials visiting our planet, UFO crash retrieval operations, ETs meeting govt officials, agreements being reached, etc. Mellon's article supports the idea that official disclosure is the only game in town, which is a disservice to the many hundreds of brave whistleblowers, contactees, etc., who have come forward to share what they know over the last 50 years beginning with Stan Deyo's ground breaking disclosures in the late 1970s.
