18 Years Milestone/Stepping into Adulthood.
Born in the furthest village in Samarkand, I grew up seeing many drunk people, mostly my relatives, around me and had very negative impressions about life. In the long run, I realized making money for one day living was the biggest goal in people's lives back then. Thanks to my father, we moved to a rather well-developed city—Navoi.
As a kid who grew up in the Navoi, I was surrounded by "hard-working" people rushing to their jobs and was under the impression that I might be one of them if I did not study hard, at least this is what my father used to say every other day.
I did, to a certain extent. Won Mathematics Olympiad back-to-back 3 times. Physics and Computer Science in the following years. I was even President of the Youth Union in my city.
On a random night in "Shahar Hokimligi," a good person started asking questions about my plans. He asked, why you are here? why not study? I wanted to be President of the Republican Youth Union, so that I would get into university without exam, I told him without hesitation. He goes, So you wanted to be like an "X" person (Former President at Republican Youth Union) with an annoying smile on his face.
I was frozen. He did not want me to freeze, but he did without his will. He was a local photographer in our events who did it for very little money. I packed my stuff, left the building, and never came back since then. I learned English and got my IELTS at the age of 15. (saying his/her age was a flex back then, haha)
On March 11th, on my best friend's birthday, I headed to Tashkent—the beginning of everything. Fresh start. I did what I did in the past 2 years, but I should dedicate a couple of paragraphs to College Application.
Oh, no. Let's make this post shorter. I got rejected from every college I applied to, and every scholarship I tried to get. After my first rejection from Cornell from ED, I could not dare to apply to any Ivy or Top College. I had some easy acceptances like NYUSH, DKU, the University of Washington, and the University of Toronto.
I was in a very deep depression from early November to April 12. Yes, not 17, but 12.
I woke up around 8 pm from a very short nap and continued some paperwork left from my school. I got a notification on my phone but did not open for half an hour. I was tired. I opened my Instagram and started scrolling reels. I remembered the notification that came to my email and just wanted to take a look. Prolly, from the University of South Florida, I made the deposit recently — I said to myself.
A person introduced himself and stated he was Senior Awards Counsellor for the Lester B Pearson Scholarship. I did not see anything like "Congratulations" or "You are in". I said the f-word and said another failure to myself.
I opened the attached files and read "I am delighted to inform you that you have been selected as a Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship recipient at the University of Toronto Mississauga for 2024. Congratulations!"
I was shaking. I sent a voice message to Najmitdin, and we both were screaming. I told all my close friends, even though I did not believe it myself.
Damn, I got it.
Thank you for reading!

TOP universitetlarga topshirishda xalqaro olimpiadalarning o'rni beqiyos
Nega?
Chunki ularni soxlashtirish imkonsiz va ular sizning xalqaro darajadagi o'rningizni ko'rsatib beradi.
IMO, IOI, IPHO va shunga o'xshagan aniq fanlar bo'yicha olimpiadalar haqida eshitganmiz, lekin IOAI (International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence) haqid eshitmagan ekanman.
AI ga qiziquvchi va shu yo'nalish bo'yicha ketmoqchi bo'lgan high school studentlarga zo'r imkoniyat

O'tgan shanba Bojxona qo'mitasida “Qora” nomli xizmat iti nafaqaga kuzatilibdi.
Qo'mita matbuot xizmati bosh inspektori Husan Tangriyevning yozishicha, "Qora" faoliyati davomida jami 10 kg. giyohvandlik vositalarining bojxonadan yashirincha olib o‘tilishini fosh qilgan.
"Bu xizmat iti kinologlarimizning haqiqiy to‘rt oyoqli yordamchisi bo‘la oldi, ularning mehrini qozondi.
Laqabi “Qora”, lekin amali ezgu bo‘ldi!", – deydi Tangriyev.
Bojxona tizimida xizmat itlari bilan bog'liq bunday an'ana borligini bilmas ekanman. Jonivorlarga nisbatan hurmatdan xursand bo'ldim.
