Save em up and put em in boiling water and reduce. Then you have a whole pot of vegetable stock to make other soups with. It's a great way to use every part of everything you cook. I don't think Euros understand how much of modern US work culture is such a humiliation ritual. To start, this "protestant work ethic" is still preached in an increasingly diverse society brought on by the tribe and perpetuated by boomers who think it's 1980 forever for them. It's also a race to bottom when it comes to pay and time off. Not just for the low class but even for the middle and some upper where it is offered, but frowned upon. We also promote the worst people to manage peons from middle management, and the upper management have completely checked out even if they started from the bottom. If an EMP ever hit this country, you're going to see a string of deaths of managers and coworkers before the mad dash home to loved ones before the government even responds and consolidates. Imagine an EMP hitting, and your boss/HR just cut your hours and said, "I'm sorry you gotta pay for your mom's cancer premiums, I am truly." 2 hours before, and your phone stops working, but that nailing hammer is calling.

In short, if society breaks down, expect cartel style deaths for the people you work for or with, just out of spite. It's gonna be an ugly collapse if it's sudden and a Brazilian collapse if slow. With sugar cane ethanol powered style mopeds and bikes ruling transport, only with corn instead.
