civil rights cases are for the most part not about racism or anything like that. for example: say a cop walks into your house without a warrant or your permission, finds one of the bedrooms is full of succulent copper piping, and arrests you for partaking in the simple joy of harvesting it. you could file a civil rights case that he violated your 4th amendment rights and be exonerated.
