"What started as a joke among seven close friends became a real plan when one of them found a 700-square-meter house in the suburbs of Guangzhou. These women, friends for over 20 years, had often dreamed of retiring and living together. Last year, they made it happen by pooling 4 million yuan ($580,000) to buy the house.
The old redbrick house was transformed into a modern mansion surrounded by hills, forests, and a garden. It’s now a peaceful retreat where they plan to enjoy their retirement together. The house has shared spaces on the ground floor and private bedrooms upstairs. The interiors are beautifully decorated with furniture imported from India and Morocco.
Since they all love tea, they added a tea pavilion connected to the house by a wooden boardwalk.
Even though the house is secluded, about an hour from the nearest town, the friends are excited to keep busy.
They plan to cook, barbecue, sing, and gather food in the village.
They even joke that each of them will master a skill—like cooking, playing music, or growing vegetables—to ensure they stay happy and avoid disagreements in the years to come."
