Device hygiene: updates you can trust

1) Safe update strategy
- Turn on auto-updates for OS + browser + key apps.
- Prefer stable releases (skip beta on your daily device).
- Update over trusted Wi‑Fi + charger.

2) Reboot cadence
- Weekly reboot (flushes stuck processes, finishes patches).
- Immediately after major OS/security updates.

3) If an update prompt looks suspicious
- Don’t click. Close the pop-up.
- Only update via Settings/App Store/Google Play (or official vendor site).
- Check the app name, icon, spelling, and publisher.
- If you clicked: disconnect Wi‑Fi, run a trusted scan, remove unknown profiles/apps, and change passwords.
