That being said Yusokowsky is genuinely a funny character. A genius but also the most autistic mind that God saw fit to create.

That being said do I have problems with his research? Not really. Most of it is just autists describing the problems of autistic AI trying to solve autistic problems. Hence Roko’s Bassilisk which might be called “how autism can destroy the world”. Bad mood today. Perhaps this is a bad time to mention that, just going off my stereotypes of communities in 2017, nothing has really changed.

1. Sargonite post-liberal-liberals: well meaning scoffers, brains stuck in the 1990s, good lads but insufferably oblivious .

2. Alt-Righters circa 2015: contemplative moaners in love with a world that no longer exists, old souls set to a melancholia, bitter but poetic.

3. Alter-Righters circa 2017: 4-chan bros that have graduated from meme-ing to callous stupidity, over-confidence, and unserious disconnected activism.

4. MGTOW: A self-pitying bunch whose ultimately noble goal of "going their own way" is readily abandoned the second they can leave bitter comments in other people's comment sections.

5. The Trad Cath Crowd: Well meaning goobers who can't get out of their own way, addicted to a fantasy cultural compromise represented in 1990s evangelical protestantism or John-Paul-II Catholicism that could have (but notably didn't) materialize. 

6. Libertarian Anarcho-Capitalists: Turbo autists trying to beat political theory with that one cool trick. Reality was left out of their equations because it made the math messy.

7. Progressive LGBT Influencers: Mercenary hedonists whose pretention to pure epicurean sensualism is eclipsed by their own narcissistic obsession with accumulating clout.

8. Atheist Nihilist Types: small-souled bugmen who use aggression against traditional beliefs and personal self-deprecation to cover up the fact that they are the objectively the least interesting people on the internet.

9. Progressive  Breadtube Streamers: Bitter nerds bullied in HS, now given a cathartic opportunity to bully dissidents against the status quo. Their obliviousness to their own stunted psychology is only matched by their total disinterest in actual ideas about politics.

10. NRX right wingers: wanky autistic nerds, somewhat more pragmatically focused than their libertarian counterparts, endlessly describing the physics of the knives tearing apart their body with no solution on how to make it stop.

11. Progressive Classic Marxist Types: Textbook philosophy pedants whose major failing in life is that they study ideas yet have no new ideas themselves. Will never stray from approved concepts they learned as undergrads, but boy will they nail you if they think you didn't read Das Captial vol 3 closely enough.

The Crowder vs. Ethan Klein / Sam Sedar debacle is instructive about the absolute state of online discourse as demanded by the people who watch YouTube. The unspoken rules about what people want and who “wins” debates. Crowder ran from a fight after his first interlocutor hid behind a pinch hitter. Because of that he “loses” but really if he had done anything else (including just insulting his guest) he would have “won”.

What bullshit is this? Everyone who does YT has people they don’t want to talk to. For example if the same thing happened to me with a debate crashed by a troll (let’s call him “el presidente”), the most rational thing would be to hang up and save everyone’s time since I have nothing to say to that person. But that would be “losing”. Instead however, I could just drop the debate subject and verbally abuse “el presidente” until he left thus “winning” but not advancing the dialectic.

Therefore by YT standards “boundaries + agree to disagree” = losing, “time wasting drama with no point” = winning.

Hard times seem to have fallen on my family (not me directly, and not financial). I would appreciate any prayers.

We just had to unenroll our child from daycare because they changed their policy to teach “anti-racism” through “role-playing and creative play”. This is for 2-year-olds.

People make fun of culture warriors but this is serious harm. Losing child care coming into a new community where one doesn’t have friends is a big deal.

People are laughing at this rightly. But I can’t help but think back to the insight of Angela Nagle who pointed out that the Biden administration would very likely try to execute a Thermidorian dial back of their own activist class. For this reason alone, no one should take too much comfort. Better the honest insanity of activist true believers than the cynical lies of the ruling class.

One of my most controversial political opinions corresponds to my wierdest Warhammer 40k sympathy: a strange fascination with everyone's favorite villains, The Word Bearers. Although the original plot decision to put the blame of evil at the feet of a failed religious pilgrimage always felt cringe-fedora-atheist to me, the description of Lorgar and his doomed legion does expose a critical human archetype.

There is a person, a kind of person, who needs something more than crude materialism. They would throw themselves beneath the most depraved idols and insane ideologies because the alternative is so stifling. They would rather be cultists than small-souled bug men with no purpose.

As things darken, there are two types of people who will defect from the establishment. The first, a group who I have no interest in meeting, are the people who are working for the establishment because it is powerful. The second is a group of people who are working for the establishment because it is something to BELIEVE. The second group are the natural followers, but they are also the natural seekers. They make the greatest devils but also the greatest saints. It is hard to admit, but necessary, the most objectionable AntiFa fanatic is likely more capable of focused devotion than I will ever be.
