And I know I have a long way to go. I struggle with using language properly and weight control. Still this is a barometer we all should be aware of. These things seem small but they indicate when a class is ready to rule (or give birth to rulers).

I wish we had a society wherein the vast majority of people never had to think about politics. It would be taken care of for them, and they would never need to have an opinion about it - and certainly, they would never be relied upon to have a good opinion about it.

But, having said that, the last 2 years show the folly of relying on an elite to have the right idea. And indeed, having been pathetically bovine for 2 years, the proles are suddenly demonstrating that they are more reliable than the elite in terms of being sane.

Man truly is a fallen creature. There is no clean answer to the conundrum.

There has to be an elite, but it has to be a sane elite.

In addition, the elite might not live in the same reality as the masses, but it has to at least respect their reality.

What is it with Boomer Catholics and thinking Stephen Colbert is the picture Catholic devotion? The guy is a run-of-the-mill “I have fond opinion of my Catholic Culture but I don’t take Doctrine seriously” type guy. The way people like Rod Dreher talk about him he is second coming of Pier Giorgio Frassati.

Thoughts on tonight’s discussion? (I will admit I was super tired)

I really respect my two most recent guests. Still, to a large degree, I feel like I have been basically trying to argue that life is better than death, and that we should fight for life.

A lot of people push back against my association of trans and anime/video game culture. Really, all I am trying to do is understand a readily observable reality. Of course the trans phenomenon is everywhere these days, and I know many (in other aspects of their lives) are very fine people. However trends need to be explained.

In a pinch, I can understand a few trans in any community. But once it’s a “thing”? Warning signs. Once there are cadres of trans? Big red flag. Once those cadres start taking over leadership? Shut it down until we can figure out what the hell is going on.

I think I will write my conference talk in vi just to spite Mr. Charlemagne.

This is probably the plan. The real danger of the Truckers is not their demands. The government was probably planning to drop restrictions anyway. The real danger is that, in forcing a concession, the government would have to concede legitimate power exists outside the Cathedral’s purview. The danger is power instability this creates once acknowledged. Is the government able to swing right sometimes? Does it listen to non-approved sources? Such a possibility makes it hard to control the ideology of underlings by controlling the path upward through the managerial hierarchy.
