In 1993, a group of artists moved into the former piano factory on the strip of wall between Alt-Treptow and Neukรถlln. The Atelierhaus Mengerzeile established itself as an artists' association and created a living new art site with thirty studios. In the course of the gentrification of Berlin, this space also threatened to disappear. In 2018 the existence of the studio house was secured in the long term. Currently, 36 artists work in the Atelierhaus. A mรฉlange of international creatives, with diverse positions, philosophies and perspectives that stands for the resistive moments that art can show in order to oppose repression.

The video and multimedia exhibition constitutes the centerpiece of the project ๊ฐ๋ฅ GADAG. Each film centers different marginalized stories related to war memories, feeding into different political debates across countries and generations. While all these stories are given their own respectful space to be told and heard, they are brought together in one room, connecting them physically and symbolically.
The video works are accompanied by installations that include objects, drawings, prints, texts and more, allowing the visitors to fully immerse themselves in the works, blurring the lines between the screen and the viewer.

In its third edition, the lecture performance series "100 new words" examines the weather. The artists Joana Moll, Sinthujan Varatharajah, Ed Atkins, Marco Donnarumma and Judith Schalansky develop new texts and performative situations from which they describe the changes in the air, the clouds, the rain and the sun.

In its third edition, the lecture performance series "100 new words" examines the weather. The artists Joana Moll, Sinthujan Varatharajah, Ed Atkins, Marco Donnarumma and Judith Schalansky develop new texts and performative situations from which they describe the changes in the air, the clouds, the rain and the sun.

On Sunday there will be a discursive event contextualising and expanding on the topic of the exhibition.
Atmospheric geologist Tobias Sauter (Interim Prof. for Climate Geography HU Berlin) will give practical insights into his work as a glaciologist and what the glacial meltdown might mean for water availability in the near future. The artist duo Nina and Adnan Softic will talk about communicability of scientific facts and their work KLIMATON that sonifies research data from the arctic expedition MOSAiC.
